We are loving our York topic this term.
Early Years Foundation Stage
We use Letters and Sounds as part of our approach to phonics teaching. As a new parent, you will be invited to parent workshops in EYFS where we demonstrate how you can support your child with their phonies learning.
We are lucky to share great relationships with our parents. The children’s learning journeys with us are recorded on Tapestry (an online learning journal) which allows parents to access pictures and comments daily. They are also able to upload photographs and observations made at home to share with us. Parents are welcomed in to our classroom and enjoy reading, baking and gardening with the children. Open craft afternoons have also been very popular – everyone likes to get involved!
3-4 Year Old Pre-School/Nursery Children
We are able to accept children into our Nursery provision, the term after they are 3 years old. Places can be funded or self-funded and details of costs and session times are given below.
Please note that hours must be taken as full mornings, full afternoons or full days and the sessions cannot vary from week to week. If children attend full day sessions or wish to stay for lunch club, they will be required to bring a packed lunch.
Session times are longer than those at most nurseries as we wanted them to tie in with school hours. By doing this we not only minimise the disruption to the class from children/parents/carers arriving/leaving at different times, but it also improves the safeguarding of your children.
Session times are given below:
Nursery Session Times & Self Funded Costs
Morning 0845-1200 £12
Afternoon 1255-1525 £10
Lunch Club (supervision 55 min) 1200-1255 £2.50
All Day 0845-1525 £22
Details of self funded costs are above – charges will be invoiced monthly.
For those who wish to claim 15 hours universal childcare or 30 hours extended entitlement, then declaration forms are available on our website or from the school office.
For those with funded places, any additional hours over 15 or 30 will be charged at £4 per hour and invoiced monthly.
Please note that due to our longer session times, 15 hours childcare funding doesn’t cover 2.5 days and 30 hours doesn’t cover 5 days all day and therefore in some instances you may need to top up the funding by paying the £4 hourly rate detailed above. For instance 2 full days and one morning would be 16.75 hours, with 1.75 hours needing to be self-funded or for 2 full days and one afternoon, it would be 16 hours, with one hour needing to be self-funded. A full week adds up to 33.75, which would require 3.75 self-funding if you can claim 30 hours.
Nursery enrolment forms and declaration forms are available from the school office or to download in this section of the website. If you wish to reserve sessions for your children, please complete and return a Nursery Session Booking Form.
